Karl Martin is a visionary leader and the founder and CEO of Arable, a leadership house with a distinctive concentration on cultural health. With a focus on the global impact of leadership, Arable coaches top-tier business leaders and offers consultancy to organizations in the corporate and non-profit sectors.     Karl calls Scotland home, splitting his time between the Borders and the USA. He is married to Niki, and together they take pride in their four grown daughters. Their influence on him is undeniable, fostering an appreciation for rom-coms, dance movies and Downton Abbey. An avid sportsman, Karl harbours a dream of representing England in cricket, rugby, and football – a dream presently sidelined by an old knee injury.

Karl is a gift and his guiding words have become recurring strength in my life. He has a way of communicating that is uniquely inspirational and incredibly necessary in today’s complicated world. I am grateful for him, I am sure you will be, too.”

Arable is a Leadership House passionate about helping organizations grow well. It is committed to developing leaders equipped to foster healthy cultures in which teams and businesses thrive.

Arable believe that organizational growth comes from organizational health (not the other way around); organizations only thrive within healthy cultures led by healthy leaders—the right soil and the right seeds. From globally influential brands to entrepreneurs, sportspeople, and politicians, Arable has brought about real, persistent change in the lives of leaders and those they nurture.

The Arable Way of coaching is based on a philosophy of practice crafted over decades of experience coaching leaders to achieve their potential through an aware-accept-adapt framework. As teams increase their credibility, dependability and relatability, while tempering their selfishness, trust grows, increasing the team’s ability to engage more deeply and produce better work.

“What I know you will find ... is a philosophy and practice that is deeply personal and truly bespoke. Karl's approach is not the normal, 'here are my ten steps to success' or 'this is my program; just follow it'. Instead, his system is all about personal responsibility, empathic wisdom, and radical contextualizing. It starts where you are and moves you to where you want to be, where you need to be, for you to lead in the room and in the way you were made to lead.”

Jack Hollis, President of Toyota USAFrom the Foreword to The Cave, the Road, the Table and the Fire

“Karl works with so many successful business leaders and team builders and has become a successful coach in today’s complicated business environment.”
